Winter Beauty Essentials

As the mercury drops our need to up the ante in the beauty department takes force. Dry skin and chapped lips never suited anybody! I have compiled together a few of my favourite products to keep you looking hot whilst its cold outside!

Chapped Lips Be Gone!
I like to give my lips a good scrub every night of the year, to ensure they are in top shape to take on a bright lip, however this becomes even more important in Winter in order to prevent dreaded cracked lips. I love using the Lush Lip Scrub nightly to keep my lips smooth. The pictured scrub is in Sweet Lips which is a vanilla choc flavour. I take a little of this product on my finger and work it into my lips using circular motions. Simply wipe of with a tissue, or if you like, Lush recommends licking off this delicious sugar scrub! Follow up with a lip balm such as the Nivea Milk and Honey or Maybelline Baby Lips, both available from any good drugstore or Priceline.

Sexy Smooth Legs
Just because your pins are hidden behind those jeans doesn't mean you can let them dry out! Exfoliating twice weekly is all you need to do to ensure they stay in top shape. I like two exfoliating products for this purpose. For a really deep scrub, Philosophy The Gingerbread Man is perfect. It is designed to be used on dry skin, so it really sloughs down those skin cells to perfection. Wash off in shower. For a more convenient regular scrub, Soap and Glory Flake Away is perfect. This scrub can be used in the shower, so there is no need to stand shivering during application. The granules are not as harsh as the Gingerbread Man scrub, so well suited for a light maintenance scrub. The formula becomes milky upon application which gives your skin a much needed hydration booster! I am OBSESSED with this scent also. Think old school classic soapy smell. Amazing! After an exfoliation, I like to follow up with a nice thick body butter before bed. Moisturising after your shower ensure your pores are still wide open from the heat, meaning the product penetrates deeper. Try the Korres Body Butter in Fig for a luxe treat, or for an everyday lotion, I am loving the Vaseline Cocoa Glow Total Moisture Lotion.

Winter Break to Fiji Glow
As our Summer tan fades the pasty whiteness emerges! While I am not saying there is anything wrong with a porcelain complexion-hell I often embrace mine with gusto! However those little events which require the LBD often crop up, and a little healthy glow can do wonders to lift a look. Also, if you are anything like me and enjoy an escape to Bali mid Winter, a pre trip fake bake is a big help to bring that bikini body up to scratch-quickly! I personally prefer a mousse formula, however everybody is different and you need to find the best solution for you. As an ex dancer who fake tanned 3 times a week, I quickly learned through experimentation what worked for me, and what didn't,  I can do a longer post on this later, but for the purpose of a winter glow, my recommendation is the Le Tan Fast Tan Mousse in Deep Bronze, applied with the St Tropez Tanning Mitt, both available from Priceline. This tan won't give you the "Deep Bronze" glow the name would suggest, however I find it is just enough colour in Winter to add the health back into your complexion.

Hands and Feet
I find my hands dry out more than anything in Winter, particularly around my knuckles. For the best way to maintain silky smooth hands, see my previous post on super soft hands. Be sure to carry a good hand cream in your bag also. I LOVE the Soap and Glory Handfood!
For my feet, I like throw on my Kit Moisture Socks after my evening shower and wear while I am winding down, watching TV, catching up on blogs etc. These will give your feet a much deserved drink!

Goddess Hair
The elements wreak havoc on your locks so a super hydrating mask twice a week will keep those split ends at bay. My all time favourite is the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque. This nourishing masque containing argan oil, makes my hair super soft and seals off the split ends. I usually forfeit conditioner on the occasions I treat my hair with this product.

Bathtime Bliss
I L.O.V.E baths! There is nothing more amazing then curling up in a steamy bath in the middle of Winter with a glass of wine. My favourite bath time products are hands down from Lush. Their bubble bars smell absolutley divine and the bath bombs are so much fun releasing glitter and other "surprises" upon submersion. I like to stock up on my faves so I always have them on hand when the mood to jump in the tub arises. While baths can be drying on the skin, I like to counter this using Lush Bath Melts. These creamy little bars can be cut up and used over 2-3 uses. They are super moisturising and I tend to throw a chunk of bath melt into the tub with my bubble bar to add more nourishment to my bath.
